  • A New Framework for Using Climate Scenario Data for Impacts and Assessment Studies

In progress. The New Framework for Using Climate Scenario Data for Impacts and Assessment Studies will provide data on estimates of regional temperature and precipitation changes as a result of cumulative CO2 emissions which is expected to be applicable to efforts to estimate regional impacts and adaptation needs.

  • Climate scenarios - Graphics and tables of projected climate change for Canada

Graphics and tables of projected changes in climate across Canada are computed from an ensemble of multi-model output gathered as part of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 5 (CMIP5). Projections are based on the Representative Concentration Pathway (RCP) scenarios. Time series data are available for projected changes in temperature, precipitation, and snow depth annually and seasonally. Maps of projected changes in temperature, precipitation, snow depth, sea ice concentration, sea ice thickness, and wind speed are available for three future time periods between 2016 and 2100.

  • ClimateBC output data source

ClimateBC_Map is a tool that extracts and downscales PRISM 1971-2000 monthly climate normal data and monthly solar radiation normal data (800 x 800 m) to scale-free point locations, and calculates seasonal and annual climate variables for specific locations in British Columbia based on latitude, longitude and elevation (optional). Climate projections are available for Representative Concentration Pathway (RCP) 4.5 under models for the 2025, 2055, and 2085 time periods. Data are spatially projected onto a map, and could be appended onto a csv file for download.

  • Scenarios Network for Arctic Planning Community Chart Tool

The SNAP Community Chart tool allows users to explore monthly temperature and precipitation projections for communities across Alaska, Yukon, Northwest Territories, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Users may specify the representative concentration pathway and historical baseline. Projections are offered for the historical period of 1961-1990 as well as future periods 2010-2019, 2040-2049, 2060-2069, and 2090-2099. Data are available for download in tabular and graphical formats.

  • Seasonal forecasts

Seasonal forecasts include probabilistic seasonal forecasts of temperature, precipitation, sea surface temperature, snow water equivalent, surface solar radiation, cloud fraction and specific humidity for Canada. Global forecasts of temperature and precipitation are also available. Gridded and projected data are produced by the Canadian seasonal prediction system.
